Code Of Ethics

The Code of Ethics is extremely significant in the IT field because information is very essential to maintaining normal lives and it is important to manage and secure that information. Without a Code of Ethics, people will lose their identity because logical security would be non-existent, and there would be a lot more misleading information. The Code of Ethics is needed to define appropriate behavior such as integrity and security. There definitely is a higher degree of professional responsibility in the information profession because there is sensitive information that has to be protected from hackers. Also, this profession is in charge of keeping computers fully functioning. These computers are used in other professional positions such as lawyers and doctors.

In my Ethical Issues class last semester I read about an ethical dilemma in which affirmative action was to give someone a position over a more qualified candidate. I felt that this was morally unacceptable because it was putting someone at a disadvantage even though they were more qualified for the position. I believe the right way of solving this issue would have been to viewed each of the applicants résumés carefully, and chose the person who looked more qualified, not by some physical attribute (which was race in this particular case).

The NDA that I signed with the Brogan stated that I will be working under the Network Administrator at the Museum, Keithly Hodge. It also stated that I needed to devote at least 12 hours each week to ensure that I will become familiar  and comfortable with certain technological issues by the end of the intern. The NDA also stated that I will working in a group environment which are employees (and interns) working in other departments, such as graphics and development. I am expected to provide desktop support to them as well as kiosks and other exhibits on the floor.
